We’re BAAAAAaaaAAAAck!

It’s only been about 779 days since my last post here… AND during that time I’ve been on many adventures, most of which have been detailed on the experimental (and soon to be no more) Ampled community support page.

*clears throat*

Never before have I related to the challenge posed by creating recaps for the beginning of TV show episodes (that go something like “previously on blablabla…”) more than I do right now because I’d like to transition us back to this blog with a pithy summary. Ok recap, here we go!

  1. The COVID-times happened and much of the world I knew moved online or closed. Looking around, I was unhappy with the exploitation carried out by many online platforms (and over-saturation of online “presence” that touched many more sites) and I joined Ampled, ceased posting in other places, and made this first Ampled post.
  2. In 2020, I dove deep into studies of the inner world — symbolism, astrology, and philosophies of personality/self. Though I tried, I didn’t make much music during this time. I did listen to an insane amount of podcasts and explore many concepts, which I plan to share more about in future posts.
  3. I eventually worked on film sets (recording sound, and all protocols were very strict and intense), and then in the summer of 2021 I was hired to arrange and produce Indigo Girls songs for the musical feature film Glitter & Doom (which premiered in June of 2023 and some clips can be found here and here). This was an INSANE task spanning almost 2 years and it used and stretched almost every skill and ability I’d developed for the past 36 years. I am so proud to have finished this work in a way that honors the music, myself, and the relationships I formed along the way. WIN WIN WIN! (I also think there is a difference between bragging and celebrating…maybe a future post will cover this musing, but for now, YAY CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  4. In the summer of 2023, Ampled announced to its co-op members of plans to shut down by the end of 2023. My experience on Ampled was wonderfully connective and nourished by the beautiful souls who joined me there. It was an exploration of cooperation, community, commitment, ethics, counter-culture, and sustainability. In the long run (ironically?), the platform wasn’t sustainable however it was a journey I am extremely grateful for and that gave me hope and grounding.

And that summarizes all 779 days! Just kidding. That’s what this blog is for — to share my experiences, inspirations, learnings, and updates with you. I plan to share here monthly or more frequently if I can. Until the next time.

Just kidding again. The table flipper emoticons are gold though! Ok, till next time for reals…
